Chery to start testing solid-state batteries in cars in 2027

Chery will begin validating all-solid-state batteries in vehicles in 2027, chairman Yin Tongyue said at the World Power Battery Conference in Yibin on 3 September. A solid-liquid hybrid version of its Rhino battery is due to go into cars first, in the fourth quarter of 2026. Yin said Chery's solid-state cells have reached 400 Wh/kg, and the first road-test car will be the Exeed ES8 station wagon.
