Ford's Michigan battery plant using CATL's LFP licence starts production

A CATL vice president said Ford's Michigan plant, which makes LFP cells under a CATL technology licence, was completed and began production in June. Ford said on 17 June it had finished full-process trial production of its first prismatic LFP cells. The project was cut from $3.5 billion and 35 GWh to $2 billion and 20 GWh after a political row in Washington paused it in 2023.
