Chery and JLR's Freelander brand holds its global launch in Abu Dhabi

Freelander, the brand co-developed by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, held its global brand launch at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi on 29 September 2026. The UAE is its first international market, with Al Tayer Motors covering Dubai and the Northern Emirates and Premier Motors covering Abu Dhabi. The first model, the Freelander 8 SUV, had gone on sale in China on 3 September as an extended-range electric car with a 60.3-kWh CATL battery and 310 km of CLTC electric range. The Gulf version adds regional touches such as a Sand Mode and a Qibla compass.
