EU presses China to limit hybrid car exports or face its own curbs

نصّ الدليل بالإنكليزية.

The European Union wants Beijing to restrain hybrid car shipments voluntarily and has warned it may impose limits itself, the Financial Times reported on 17 September. Monthly imports of Chinese hybrids rose from about 3,800 in October 2024 to 50,000 in July 2026, and they pay a flat 10% tariff, far below the duties on Chinese battery-electric cars. According to electrive, the idea is to hold China-made hybrids to about 15% of the EU market, against more than a third today. China's Ministry of Commerce said voluntary export restraints break WTO rules.
