Mexico's Economy Ministry said on 31 August that 158,571 cars arrived from China in January to June 2026, 31.1% fewer than a year earlier. By value, Chinese light-vehicle shipments dropped 35.4% to US$2,159 million. The fall follows the duties of up to 50% that Mexico applied from 1 January 2026 to 1,463 product lines from countries without a trade agreement, China among them.
