China car retail down 22% in the first 20 days of September, CPCA says

Retail sales of passenger cars in China came to 878,000 between 1 and 20 September, 22% fewer than a year earlier, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). New energy vehicles accounted for 596,000 of them, down 9% year on year, which lifted their retail share to 67.9%. Wholesale held up better, with NEV wholesale at 740,000, up 8%. The association said this year's September gains came almost entirely from NEVs, while output of gasoline-only cars fell 52% year on year over the period.
